I am a university student studying health sciences in Australia.

Art has always been a passion of mine; I play the cello and piano, I write, I draw, I take photographs and I am a proficient graphic designer. I also love food; I bake and cook often, much to the joy of my housemates.

I have been playing music since I was a small child – formal piano tuition from the age of 5 and I began studying the cello at the age of 9.

In college I majored in composition, creative writing, mathematics and science. I am also an nerd, I love sci-fi, fantasy and comics!

My first introduction to corsetry was in my first year of university (2011) and since then I have fallen in love with the corseted figure. Being a poor uni student and not being able to afford custom corsetry; I am learning to make corsets – which I have found out is also an expensive hobby. I made my first corset in the summer of 2012 and my second in the summer of 2013. I continue to research, design and create corsets in my free time when I am not studying.

I have also been entertaining the idea of becoming a corset model some time in the future when I have more corsets and outfits.

The corsetry community has become a huge part of my life. Interacting with other enthusiasts, makers and models is a wonderful thing and I have made many friends.

I created Ariadne’s Thread as I wanted a place to share my progress and thoughts on facebook without having to use my personal profile. It also could potentially become my brand if I ever decide to go into business. As for why I chose it, I have always been a fan of Greek mythology (and Egyptian) and am drawn especially to some of the more minor characters. In the book series ‘The Troy Game’ (based off Greek Mythology and historical events) one of the characters is Ariadne and I was really drawn to her as she was dark and powerful. I also really liked the character in ‘Inception’. Because of her association with thread (to aid Theseus through the Labyrinth) as well as problem solving, it just seemed perfect to me.

I am relatively new to blogging and I haven’t ever been able to keep updating a blog so fingers crossed that I manage it with this one!
